Lincoln Village Preschool and Nursery

Lincoln Village Preschool and Nursery is a hidden gem in the heart of Lincoln, which works in partnership with parents and whānau to provide education and care for infants, toddlers and young children.

Our environment has been designed to cater for small groups of children in age and stage appropriate environments – there are four separate learning spaces and two large separate outdoor spaces. These spaces allow for children to experience calm, welcoming environments with activities that are appropriate to their learning needs.

Our large, private outdoor environments provide space for children to engage with and explore nature, challenge themselves physically and construct. Our curriculum includes providing a range of loose parts which children use their imagination and planning skills to create and invent new games, vehicles, buildings etc. We believe in wearing appropriate clothes so we can explore outside in most weather conditions.

The LVPN team has a very high percentage of qualified and registered Kaiako (teachers) who implement practices which support our learners to feel secure, safe, confident and capable. We value open and clear communication with parents and whānau, knowing this is how we can best support your child’s learning both in the centre and at home. Our stable team has many decades of experience and through only using our own casual reliever pool we are able to provide a consistency of care and programme.

By having smaller group sizes and a better than recommended teacher to child ratio, Kaiako are able to build strong relationships with children; knowing their cues, interests and needs.

Our philosophy guides everything we do at LVPN and centres around three concepts:

Manaakitanga – being kind, showing love to ourselves and others

Akoranga – teaching and learning through play, play is the tool we use to learn

Kotahitanga – unity – from appreciating our diversity, we are all part of one community and can learn from each other to make a better future

Our centre has been operating since October 2011 (prior to 2015 was Jigsaw) and is currently owned by a local family.
